Les-Baux-de-Provence Accommodation

les-baux-de-provence-accommodationLes-Baux-de-Provence village got its curious name from the aluminium ore, bauxite, firstly discovered in the Alpilles back in the year 1821 by a geologist named Pierre Berthier.

Les Baux is easily one of the most striking villages that can be seen in France. Many of the old buildings found there make up the picturesque ruins, the most captivating of which being the castle.

With its spectacular location, standing tall on the Alpilles Mountains, on top of a rocky outcrop that is surrounded by the ruined castle overlooking the southern plains of the province, Les-Baux-de-Provence has always attracted tourists and celebrities. The village accommodation facilities are endless, from internationally renowned palaces to quaint boutique hotels and auberges.

entry-to-villageShould you choose to stay in the southern part of the village, you will have great views of exposed rock surfaces. The northern slopes, on the other hand, have roads that are almost always in a zig-zag formation, while at the same time being heavily forested. If travelling to Les Baux from the southeast, you will be passing by vineyards and olive groves of the best quality. You will also see the Cave Vignoble Saint Berthe while driving to the village… where most tourists can’t resist stopping to have a taste of the local wines. Truly astounding rock formations can be witnessed while travelling on these roads.

Once you enter the village, you will see nothing but cobblestone streets, souvenir shops, tourists, and terrace cafes for miles. The atmosphere will remind you of St. Paul-de-Vence. With its cobblestone and stone structures, the entire village itself looks entirely medieval and seems to be happily resting in the 21st century.

Wherever you choose to stay in Les Baux, memorable experiences and unforgettable views are guaranteed.
